Elusyve said I had to go to the Albero Gatcha Festival -and since she’s a fucking giant who might squashe me, I went.

She also said I had to wear everything I got immediately, which meant I was walking around wearing many boxes. I think this might’ve been some mean elf trick on her part.

But since I had never been to nor patronized any sort of gatcha, you know, like Ron Burgundy would say – WHEN IN ROME.

I love this coat and had to show it off as I haven’t seen it on any feeds. Sevenstar dropped a giftcard on me for a store I have never been to. Meriken Co. “ANSWER” comes in 3 colours, I am showing the blue. Everything fitted perfectly, no seems or joins showing, the whole coat looks as if it is one piece. The print is beautiful, something I would love to own in RL.

TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE EDGE!!!  We are officially four weeks away from VWE Massacre.  But on Edge we are coming to you live with some of the greatest action around on SL.  Edge promises to have an awesome card and we cannot wait to see what is in store for Massacre.  So sit back and get ready for VWE EDGE

Our first match will be for the VWE Xtreme Women’s Championship.  “The Nova” Tyress Serevi will defend her title against one half of the Juvey Hall Girls, “The Joy Girl” Cinthia Falmer.  Even since Tyress won the Title back at Beachbrawl, we have seen a different side of The Nova.  She has become more aggressive and more hardcore.  However Cinthia is no slouch either.  Cin can be just as hardcore if not more.  Which means she may take the title away from Tyress

Our second match will be Sam “The Man” Jarvinen will be taking on Crip Inglewood.  Sam is psyched for his upcoming match at Massacre against the World Heavyweight Champion, Brakman Wylder.  So he will possibly see this match as just a warm-up.  But Crip has been very impressive in the ring thus far.  However Sam won’t really see this as a challenge for him.  It is most likely he will hit his California Cutter and it will all be over.  So will Sam hit the CC or will Crip pull the upset victory.

Our third match will be a Bombshell 4 Way Elimination Chase Match.  It will be “The Wylde Chylde” Vendetta Zabaleta taking on “The Howling She-Wolf” Louve McMahon, “The White Angel” Elisa Riddler and “The Silver Girl” Rhonda Silverfall.  All of these women have a goal to reach the top again and perhaps show the VWE that they may have with it takes to be perhaps Women’s Champion.  They want to prove that they are the best in the VWE.  So which Bombshell will be the last woman standing?

Our Main Event will be for the VWE World Heavyweight Championship.  Brakman Wylder will be defending against none other than “The Voodoo King” Acheron Nightfire.  Ever since BeachBrawl Acheron has been hungering for the World Title.  Now he will have the chance tonight as he goes against Brakman.  but Brakman has proven he is a fighting champion.  He will take on Acheron’s voodoo and hopefully keep his title.  However he also has to worry about Sam The Man lurking about.  Will Brakman be able to conquer the voodoo and retain the title or will Acheron will be claiming gold and go to the Main Event at Massacre? The new Picnic Dress from Haven Designs is a fun and cheery summer sundress that had me heading out for the outdoors. I love the field of daisies that begins lightly on the bodice and gets more intense as it goes down the skirt. The dress comes in seven summer colors with an additional blue limited edition for the Stumblebum Brigade.

I headed out to Third World to check out another corner for this shoot. Seriously, this sim is full of what you could call little set pieces or tableau that are perfect for photos while all working together cohesively.

The sundress demands summery accessories and what could be better than the espadrilles and floppy hat from Gos. They coordinate with each other and as you add color packs to the shoes, you get additional flexibility. For example, these are the yellow espadrilles but the lace and the seam are green from the Meadow color pack – and Meadow is the color of the sash on the hat.

Here’s another slightly skewed shot at the full look – I mentioned using ctl-8 to shift perspective yesterday. The shift is sometimes more obvious when you focus on an avatar, though you can also see it clearly in the trees in the background.

I added jewelry from Dark Mouse – the Daisy Diamons in Gold – which repeated the daisies in the dress – though not too literally.

The skin is the gorgeous new Pulchra from Baiastice.  There’s a beautiful delicacy in the skin tone that you will have to just see for yourself with the demos.

All good things must come to an end.

After more than 3 years The Body Politik will be closing down. Although this will be an end for TBP it means new opportunities, adventures and challenges for Max and Polly. We’re not leaving SL which has been a part of our lives since 2005. SL has changed a lot in those 5 years and it’s time for us to move on to other things. The doors will be closing some time by the end of Aug.

Welcome to my first post. I was so flattered and excited to be invited as a guest blogger for Free*Style. I’ve been reading it for about a year and a half…*fan girl waves*. I hope you enjoy my contributions and find them useful. Nuff bout me let’s get on to what you’re really here for yes?

I’m a bit late for posting it, BUT lucky us Sileny’s pretty good about leaving it out at the sale price for a few days.

There is always two sides to a story. Good and bad go together, nothing is just good or just bad. Somehow everything is in balance. Alienbear Gupte creates fabulous pieces of jewelry in SL. I’m wearing the brand new set “Mimmi” or well at least a part of it. There are so many options for each part that I could not use them all in just one post.

But where there’s happiness, sadness isn’t far. I was shocked about the news that Digit Darkes has left SL. We once were close as far it’s possible between computer screens, all I hope is that she is well and finds her luck elsewhere. But her wonderful creations will be missed most definitely. Plume de la Reine is one dress from her last collection.

I’ve always that thought that Calypso got a raw deal in literature.

We know her best from Homer’s Odyssey. In Homer’s tale, she shows up in line 14:
“Odysseus alone, filled with longing for his return and for his wife, did the queenly nymph Calypso, that bright goddess, keep back in her hollow caves, yearning that he should be her husband.”

So basically in Homer’s eyes, she’s a desperate, lonely minor goddess turned kidnapper. He goes on to say that after many years, the gods force Calypso to let Odysseus go. And that’s the end of her part in the story.

Apollodorus is a little kinder to our Calypso in his version of the story:
“[Odysseus] was carried across to the island of Ogygia. There Calypso, daughter of Atlas, received him, and bedding with him bore a son Latinus. He stayed with her five years, and then made a raft and sailed away.”

At least here, instead of being crazy kidnapper, she’s the abandoned single mother. An improvement, I guess?

What if she could be the hero of her own story instead of a minor character in Odysseus’?

Would she tell of her loneliness on the island until one day a broken man washed up on the shore? Of how she healed him and they spent several glorious years together? Did she help him build the raft that carried him back to Penelope, his wife?

And then after he left, what happened to her next?
