I went over to Nyte ‘n Day earlier and picked up this lovely pink Snap dress. Nyte just never disappoints on the cute casuals. Since I started roam SL, I’ve been a regular customer. I just love that at Nyte ‘n Day you can still buy a totally cute dress like this for under 200 L$.

I’m wearing it with Atomic’s ribbon legging which were a VIP group New Years gift. The Geisha belt is from Fishy Strawberry. The pink Saturday flats are from Shiny things. I really wish Fally would come back and create again. I’m such a sucker for her shoes.

I’m still wearing Roos today, Dutch Touch’s latest skin in cream (city make up) and the Opium hair is from The Abyss and was a part from the Opium avatar. I don’t know whether it’s available separately.

There is a rare breed of person that you meet out in the world, whatever world you live in, who sees the world through better eyes than you do. It’s not that they are more intelligent, or more holy, or even more able than you – it’s one simple difference.

They look – and they see possibility. They see a child who could learn to ride a bike, even if it means falling off it a few times. They see a creator who could expand their horizons to new places that they never thought they could go, and encourages them warmly to do just that.

They see the fusion of art and fashion, and how complimentary the two can be – and inspire others to see the same. 

They see the goodness in all people – even the ones you and I might think are total assholes.

They believe in you, and believe you can do anything. Their belief is pure, and their desire for your success is so much like that parent helping their child to learn to ride the bike. And just because you are a blonde blogger who holds fast to her Barbie heritage…..he opens the door to other worlds of beauty and knows you will see it too.

I am speaking of course, of Winter Jefferson.

Many people know him, even people who don’t know him, know of him. But what you might never see is the heart that beats inside that undead body, believing in you, wishing you the best and truly seeing the good qualities in everyone.

I attended the Rezzable Show THE FUTURE IS NOW in support only of my friend, I’m such a brat, I had proclaimed all fashion shows lame and retarded – knowing full well that this is one of his passions (so this is jerkish of me and I should stop). When the Fallen Gods skins came out, I was nearly speechless and felt like I hadn’t seen skins before ever.

Winter knew I’d see it that way. He had faith that I wasn’t only a Barbie Girl living in a Barbie world.  He changed my vision and I see differently because of it. 

He is an example to us all of how to live within a community and be positive and loving toward all. Very few people are all bad or all good. But sometimes I need Winter to remind me.

Thank you Winter, for not only being my friend, but for being who you are. The world would be a far dimmer place without you.

It’s often been said that the best things in life are free. This is *definitely* one of those things!

A second person who deserves recognition for multiple contributions to the community is Sasy Scarborough. Sasy is a friend, though we are not inner circle – hang around together all the time friends. Nonetheless, we are good enough friends that she can kick my ass when I am wrong about something and I can go to her for advice. That’s not why I am highlighting her though – that’s personal and my focus in this challenge is to highlight those who contribution to the community. Sasy is an obvious choice.

Her blog is full of tips and advice and lots of tutorials – even video tutorials. Yay! She also models a positive way of blogging about fashion that is enthusiastic, honest and kind.  She involves herself in community events – volunteering uncounted hours for fundraisers. Organizing huge events like hair and skin expos and the like is not only daunting, it requires an almost superhuman ability to let criticism roll off your back. It’s impossible to satisfy everyone – so criticism is part of the job – and yet, she keeps volunteering.

She makes things happen. One recent example, I suggested there should be a vaudeville/burlesque party to celebrate the Designers United Vaudeville event. It was one of those “wish someone else would do this” ideas, but Sasy made it happen and kicked me in the pants to do it, so to speak. A very soft, gentle kick. She also redecorated the venue, along with her friends,  and made it into a huge production – something that was just so fun and successful. She’s one of the Do-ers of Life.
