During one of my many attempts to downscale my inventory, I came across this dress again. It has been in there since… well.. I think since September 16, 2006, which is the day after I originally rezzed, and it was kinda old back then already. It has survived every inventory cleaning so far though and I think that it still looks pretty amazing after all this time, right?

Chip Midnight was one of the first designers around, and probably, the first ever to make photoreal skins commercially available to SL residents (many still use his templates for skins). I don’t know if he ever logs in these days, my guess is, he doesn’t because his profile still links back to onrez,  but his shop is around still (charter members got a plot of free land for life) . It is like a step back in time, vendors with models in system hair (he actually still sells some textured system hair models!), skins which now look bad, but at some time were top of the bill (do consider the fantasy skins though, they are still wonderful, though to today’s standard, expensive), some clothing that just makes me smile when I look at it because… well, because it’s just so very 2005…. But among all the fossils of SL, there are also a few gems like this dress. If you like SLvintage, Chip’s shop is definitely worth the TP.

Right now the RL me has a pimple the size of Mt Vesuvius on her face and she ain’t happy. Funny how I never had pimple’s in my teens and now, the mother of all of them decides to make an appearance. To squeeze or not to squeeze, that is the question? Perhaps it was that piece of Creme Brulee fudge I had yesterday.

Now Glam Affair has installed a Lucky Chair in their VIP room for member’s of the group. I went there two days ago and found another ‘C’ person in residence near the chair and she looked like she meant business so I decided not to shame her with my lighting fast trigger finger and TP’d home thinking I would take it on another day. Yesterday I returned and it wasn’t long before the chair decided to pay out for me with this outfit called Malaika. I prefer to wear little dresses with pants so added a pair of white leggings from fri.day to spice it up.

I couldn’t wait to show you my new Posh hair called Naive in the color Sunflower. SL resident Naive Fall? Is this named after you??? I do love the bowler hat and pompadour style that allows the face to feature and thought my new Butterfly Magic eye decoration from Glow Studio would be perfect.

These Warhol inspired chairs and table were created and given by Frolic Mills in celebration of his recent rezz day. I do love them Frolic and wanted to give them an airing on my blog because I didn’t realize you could actually make things too. Thank you Fro…I do really love them. I always wanted to sit my ass on James Dean. No-one, not even me however is allowed to put their derriere on MJ. RIP darling man.

I have been reading a few stories and comments lately on the topic of FREEBIES. I’d just like to say that like RL shopping, I usually have to look at a lot of stuff before I find something that I want/like/need. I don’t walk into shops and find everything in there to my taste and/or quality. Hunts and freebies are like that too. Not everything given out will be for you. Designers/creators who graciously give things away for free should not be ripped apart if it’s not up to your standard and likewise, you are not entitled to anything. So to those of you whingers who bang on about what you think you deserve, develop a bit of class. To those designers who take the time to give away your wares as a gift, thank you.

Music is something that I couldn’t live without in my Life. It has been a part of me as long as I can think. To celebrate the music I hear I started dancing at very young age. Dancing makes you happy, it really does, next time you feel sad turn up your speakers loud and just shake what your momma gave you. It’s a little like a warm sunny day that embraces you. I appreciate every form and expression of dancing. This post is inspired by my 1st addiction in Life Music and dancing.

Since I am a little “drama- queen” I invite you to a dramatic tango. The “francis” dress by Kunglers Couture was just perfect for this Spanish Tango look I had in mind the fan was quickly found on X-street, I really have to say LL has improved the search sand shopping experience. So glad that this was also another opportunity to wear Alienbear’s “Mayur” jewelry set. It’s simply amazing work.

What I never edit though are my LOTD pictures, other than that I crop them and add a border. I simply lack the PS skills to edit all my pics (it would take WAY too much time, and suck the fun right out of me) and besides, I think that products featured should reflect the actual quality as much as possible.

So to illustrate how I work when I take pictures, here is… a picture:

Yes, it’s cropped, I added a border and.. omg.. letters!!  :-D Lets go through it, ok? NB: I take all my pictures running SL in the official LL 2.0 viewer on ultra settings.

A) in my studio, which isn’t more than a rounded white wall, with default mid day light settings. No other in world lights for funky effects.

B) in the same studio, but now with the WL settings provided by Caliah Lyon. You can see the massive difference, the textures in general looking way more vibrant

C) still the same studio with Caliah’s settings, but here I have added a 0.02 glow to the white wall behind me. The effect is that there seems to be a light shining through and the av’s edges get smoothed a wee bit.

C is how I take 99, 9% of my pics. So, yeah, that’s my secret. No editing, but making use of the in world tools that every resident has (provided they have a decent computer and can run more than basic shaders).  It’s not my intention to make my readers feel cheated, ever. But I don’t think using in world tools for photography  can ever be considered cheating. However. In the rare occasion that I will use an edited image, from now on, I will mention it.

[UPDATE 100531]  since many have let me know how much they appreciate these little tricks, I figured, I’d add a little bit more about the technicalities of  taking photo’s in world. Tips:

1. Make sure that taking high resolution photos is enabled (open advanced menu -ctrl+alt+D- and check high res photos);
2. Antialiasing is set on 8x (open preferences>graphics>hardware and set to 8x. I find 16x not working better for me, but maybe that depends on the system you have running, so play a little with that). Antialiasing wil make the image look smoother;
3. Take your photos as a bitmap (JPEG and PNG will lessen the quality in my opinion)
4. Take your photos as big as your system will support. For me, it’s ” safe” to take photos at 4000 x 4000. Anything higher will likely crash me in the process. This will leave you enough possibilities for cropping your image, and make it smaller so the image will look sharper.

It is no secret that I am a hard core fan of the work of Twiggy Whippet and Dakota Buck.  Kota is a long term friend of mine and I have been following her designs from the beginning ( I actually still have my Savvy? collection neatly tucked away in my inventory, and if it weren’t so mean to use items that are no longer available on the grid, I would use them in my outfits as well, because the designs still rock) and since Twiggy joined Kota in their current bran Whippet & Buck, the quality of said designs have only improved. The ladies have found their own, unique, style of laid back casual fashion, with amazing textures and a great fit of prim parts.

This is also the case with their latest release, the Bonita eyelet dress and blouse. Available in 6 beautiful pastels (wearing ivory here) , the dress is girly and always a good pick. Available as a separate is the blouse, also in 6 colours, but with a neatly finished hem so that it looks great on a pair of slacks as well.

The jewelry is also from Whippet & Buck. the pearls are small and the broad necklace has a really good fit.

Other than Whippet & Buck, I am wearing the latest work in progress from Hart Larsson @ PXL Creations and my favorite Clawtooth hairdo, True Betty in classic brunette.

RAWR!!!!!! Have Mercy indeed.. these are the new heels from Nut Barak, owner of Orange Creations. The previous heels were great already and these are better yet! On Mercy, Nut has enhanced the foot texture, adding a bit of a sheen, which makes the match with most skins better and there is an updated skin preset notecard available as well. These heels come in 14 colors and oh well, what can I say… I’m having a really great shoe weekend!

I was checking out Lelutka’s new collection today, and therefore this style du jour is mainly about them. I’m wearing the lovely Ornella pants in “perky” with the Nouvelle Top in electric blueberry. Also from Lelutka are my saffron pumps in neutral navy and my skin Lola (light make up 5 and lipstick orange -only for SL2.0-)

Adam ‘n Eve has been closed for a couple of days to give Sachi and Damen the chance to put the new build in place and set the new shop up. They are back now, and there is lots of new stuff as well. Diferent look, same trusted quality!

Among the new things is Rosamund, shown in red and black here. Rosamund comes with a big skirt and a sleek skirt option, a veil, stockings  and the possibility to wear the bodice as a teddy!

Tomorrow, Tuli Asturias will launch her new skin, Jade.  Jade will be available in 5 skintones and 10 make ups each. You are already used to Tuli making her skins available in 3 eyebrow options, but now she has also 3 cleavages for you to chose from (small chest, medium chest and push up) I love this as I keep my boob sliders way down, and it can look a bit weird sometimes with busty shaded skins, so I’m all for the small chest option!

Today’s look is about the release of Exodi planned for later today. Ryker has made some really cute shirts and shorts, perfect for the warm weather we currently have over here. The Imani Tees will come in 9 colours, and the Denim Frayes Lounge shorts in 8 different jeans shades.

Milla Michinaga @ Michami has released this sexy new dress “Kat” in some beautiful color combinations. I’ve picked the black/silver one for today’s look. Kat comes with both a sculpted and a system skirt, but to be honest, I find that the sculpt skirt gives me a bigger butt than the system skirt, so I’m sticking with that.

I’m combining the dress with Aoharu’s black collarless jacket, Blowpop’s fishnet stockings, Tesla’s black Angelina boots and LeLutka’s black Jills Fighting Talk gloves.

Adding some carfully picked accesoires such as fri.day’s black cinch belt, Mandala’s Shaka necklace and GOS’new Cateye sunglasses and I’m good to go… well, anywhere really.

The Asian shirt from yesterday’s look was not the only thing I picked up while I was shopping at Arai. This blue striped Simple Twas also among my purchases. I’m combining it with the red cuffs of Artilleri’s red Beatrix shirt to make it a bit more girly. The red Sendal scarf was a x-mas gift from the creators behind Maitreya and I don’t think it’s available in the shop, but I love it and I wear it quite often.
The Anjuna pants are from Zaara and the white Sheila thongs are from SLink. the grey “My VW Thing”sunglasses are from Surf Couture.

I’m still in PXL Creations new beta skin, although this is like 5 versions after the one I wore yesterday and Anna in timid brown from fri.day is today’s hair.

Let’s start with Dale… an almost statuesque bodyshape… chiselled features and classically romantic body detail… he stands poised to be worn by one of you gorgeous men.  Ladies.. if you like his “look” then don’t forget Dale can also be bought as a gift on Xstreet (or xstreet board in my main store).  Dale’s paler skin is appealing in itself.. an alternative to the high tan more thickly set look.  I know one thing… I’d drape him from my arm any day …. ;p

Below we have Victoria… the pouty lips and sexy far away look… recognise her at all?  When putting together this look.. the name just had to fit the bill as a possible Mrs Beckham.  Her fine, delicate shape and almost perfectly featured pixie face… shows her as one of my best shapes so far.

A bit safari inspired today, I don’t know, maybe because finally the sun is shining here again (and my garden is a mess, worse than a jungle) .

I’m wearing the white Asian shirt from Arai, with the fatigue camo Safari shorts from Casa del Shai. In my Hoorenbeek Lucille boots (coffee) I’m wearing the off white gartered overkneee socks from League.

The Ukuni bracelet and Kizazi necklace are both from Uzuri and the Half Shutter sunglasses from Kalnins, I have stolen from Hunain’s inventory (I think he makes love to these glasses when no one is around, but I kinda have to agree with him, they are among the best glasses on the grid)

Truth’s Sylvia hair from this week’s release is an absolute hit and my skin is a work in progress at PXL Creations. Hart Larsson is still taking make up suggestions.

Where do you see your Sl in the next 5-10 years!

Because really think about it Most people don’t event know where they be in that time in Rl. Let alone think about it in SL;But always nice to hears others thoughts and just one question of many on my list of to do.

I personally see my SL on the same track but with growth in , Blogging , Photography, growing my photo shop skills and hopefully meeting new people.I cant keep all my eggs in one basket I need get out there more. As well moving on with theSl world and second life fashions, maybe taking a few breaks here and there. Maybe but always staying updated but remembering the old times and fashions and taking in all the moments I have had here. This may just be in next 1-2 years unless am flushed out by the new comers,LOL or I find a New Hobbie XD.

Now I ask this question not because I have no life, But because am seeing a growing number of people really investing parts of there real lives and cash into Second life. Now I as someone who doesn’t really invest that much, there wouldn’t be much really keeping me here other then the fun , shopping , friends and exploring Sl to the the fullest. So I can only wonder what keeping them so invested and keen on Sl. How that will effect them and there lives for the next few years.

After asking at least 70 people a lot the answers were shocked and un-sure answers they wernt really sure if they still be in sl or if they’d last. Others felt they wouldn’t be here as full time as they were now and that there Sl would just live there course. Some of the surveys knew exactly what there were going to do and be doing in the there future sl . Most them being the very invested Slers I mentioned before.

Here are just some of the surveyors , featured in the survey I choose these few answers because I think they have some really good key point i was looking for in doing this.

Mystical Demina: there is really only two options, they stay a leader, or they get displaced by others. Although I think the model SL has used is good for the social networking side of things I don’t think most businesses are going to want to run large sever farms of sims so I don’t see the SL model prevailing

Mystical Demina: So I more web based virtual world that is lots of scenes connected together each running on your own server, like how the web is done now will prevail.SL could move to that model and if so they may prevail. But my bet is they won’t prevail.
