Today we celebrate midsummer’s eve in Sweden and it’s a wonderfully romantic evening with midnight sun, flowers and fields and whimsical dancing around a may pole.   Or…. really it’s an evening of herring with new potatoes and lots and lots of vodka snaps, and I’m talking LOTS OF SNAPS.  There will be many a “skål” (cheers) and even more singing, as any self-respecting Swede knows at least two or three snaps songs to accompany the snaps shot down their throats. I’ve gone somewhere between kick-ass and utilitarian with this look.  I’ve got lots of horizontal straps going, from the socks, to the holster to the double belts.  I’m currently loving these tribal hand tattoos that I’ve been wearing for days, and still don’t want to take off.  Same goes for the ring-bracelet combo that I’m wearing on my right arm.

The lovely Grazia blogged a vintage dress the other day and that got me digging deep into my own Inventory for some old favourites.  Now, I’m a notorious and radical deleter; if I find something lurking in there that I’ve worn at least once and have no immediate plans of wearing again, its usually gone.  Consider, as of today, I have 35, 659 items, and that is after 3.5 years  in SL as a blogger and creator. I’ve been a busy bee this last week, and I’ve not really bothered with getting dressed (hence no bloggage).  So I’ve gone for a super simple look today with a cute multi-colored mini skirt and a fabulously red boatneck top — love that red!

I’ve been wearing these headphones around for awhile too.    I find it fascinating how RL habits transfer over to SL.  The more stressed I am in RL, the more I like to retreat into my own world, and my first line of defense is always music.  My headphones (and the music they play) are like modern day armor against the barrage of noise and stress that every day life throws at you. And now, after some unfortunate SL-stress, I find myself putting headphones on my avatar too…..

So I don’t know what happened today, but I’ve ended up with an inside-out look.

I got the gorgeous lingerie from Zaara and just couldn’t bear to hide it under my clothes — so I didn’t.  Then I couldn’t bear to take off the lacy fishnet leggings from my last look — so I didn’t.  And I didn’t want to walk around half-naked in just my underwear, so I layered some tops underneath the bra and added socks to cover up some skin.  Pearls and large earrings finish it off. Et voila’!

Now, does this really look like a planned outfit or does it look like SL messed up and vomited random items of clothing on me?

So I came in-world today with the idea of putting together a look for the Oscars tomorrow… needless to say I suffered a major FAIL.  I tried, I really did, but the truth is I S.U.C.K. at formal styling! After shifting through one beautiful gown after the other, my inner all-defying, five-year old came out to play and insisted I do the opposite of formal. And here we are, rock girl.

I’ve always loved the kick-ass outfits worn by those cool and fierce girls you see around the grid (and in many a blog).  I never felt that I could really pull it off though; in my attempts I always felt a little fake, or that the clothes were wearing me, and that I should really be tripping around in a pair of strappy stilettos and girly skirts.  But this time, I’m truly and honestly loving this look.  So much so that I’ve been wearing it for days, and I still don’t want to change.  Now I just need to find some good ass to kick….
