Damn you, Argrace. Damn you for making hats that look great and are colour change and are easy to fit and have great hair textures and for making me buy all of them. Damn my hat addiction too. Which makes it my fault really and not Argraces.

But I do love this new military hat and it’s quite fortunate that I was looking for something to go with the new military shirts from FIR. I’ve always liked the stuff from FIR and each new release gets better and better. The cords I’m wearing are from there too (and they come on the pants AND underwear layer which is such a plus point). Loads of colours to choose from and I love the little details on the shirt such as the studs on the collars and the epaulettes.

For some bizarre reason I’m having great difficulty with things rezzing at the moment. I tp into a place and have to stand around for a week and a half before the greyness subsides and I can work out where the hell I am.

Luckily, I’ve been able to occasionally see through the murky soup that SL has become to pull together a few outfits.

This one mainly uses pieces from Phoenix Rising and there’s so much great stuff to pick up down there. You can buy pieces individually or put together into complete outfits if you happen to be co-ordinationally challenged.

Typical. Just a few days ago I have a tiny moan about the shortage of mens hair at Truth (in comparison to the womans section, anyway), and what happens? A new male hair is released. And I really like it too. Now all I need is Mr. Hawks to make a nice chunky mohawk and call it Bronson and I’ll be one happy chappy. Well, we can all wish, can’t we….

The coat is from Mini Me – a store I first saw mentioned over at YouStyleSl and what I like about this coat is that the bottom section is on the skirt layer. No prim parts to adjust (apart from the collar and cuffs) – although its worth making your butt a bit smaller when wearing it, as any lady who wears system skirts will tell you.

Dear Residents of Second Life,

I have a request. It’s quite a simple one and its one that some of you may indeed enjoy. It’s been a while since I’d looked around Argrace so I mosied down there this afternoon and this jacket and shirt set followed me home.

In the pack you get the jacket by itself, the jacket with the shirt as well as with a t-shirt, three kinds of cuffs and the collar with five ties. There are a number of different colour shirt options to buy separately. Not a lot of adjustments were needed either. Which is always good. Oh, and the belt comes with it too.

I really like this hair is from Zero Style and theres a reason why I prefer to just wander around wearing nothing but a hair base or a hat. And that reason is that I’m rubbish at modding them to fit. And I had to modify this one a lot as bits were stabbing themselves into my neck and through my ears. But ...

Well, after LaVie gave out a preview group gift of their new skin, the full release of Mark happened yesterday and so I kinda had to run down there and pick one up.

At L$2000 a go they aint cheap but you get so many versions of the skin in the pack including hairbase, eyeliner and body hair. Theres a selection of skin tones and facial hair types to choose from too.

Like yesterdays post, the hair/hat is from Find Ash and I bet there’s a few others that’ll find their way into my inventory from that store. Again, its script resizable and you can also change the textures. However, I seemed to have a bit of a problem with the red checked texture I wanted as the denim texture on the peak wouldn’t change. I’m a man of simple pleasures (when it comes to SL anyway). Give me a hat that resizes with a click, various texture options and attached hair that doesn’t try to eat my face and I’m happy. And this hat (by Find Ash in conjunction with :sey) makes me happy.

I also love this coat I picked up from Laqroki. A number of colours are available but I had to resize the bottom a little and shrink my butt to stop the cheeks from poking out of it. But my ass was probably too big anyway so perhaps it’s not a bad thing.

Damiani have rebranded and are now called LaVie. And so to mark the occasion (and to make sure all the group members join the new group) there are male and female group gifts in store. The male skin is called Mark and is a sneak peak at a future release. Three skin tones come in the pack and its worth joining the group while there’s open enrollment and checking them out. There always seems to a hunt or twelve going on in Second Life. As is the case with most things, some are better than others and I can’t remember ever having done a whole one. But they can be fun for a while with a friend and a shedload of enthusiasm.

I have my avatar. One that I’m very fond of. One that has evolved over the time I’ve been involved in Second Life into the truest representation of how I want to present myself in-world.

However, I like to play and create images and characters. I enjoy finding skins and making shapes for them. And that was how the pictures in todays post started out.

I saw a post at YouStyleSL featuring the new Christian skins from AtomicBambi so I picked one up, messed around for a bit and the results are below.

The hooded top is from Reek and I’m sure everyone has picked up one or two by now. They come in a range of colours and patterns but you can customise all the parts apart from the main body using the included HUD.

So, I had this idea. Not a big, world altering idea. But an idea nonetheless.

And the idea was to set my dear friend Stacie Pryor a blogging challenge and for her to do the same for me. And to my surprise she agreed. Originally we were going to find one piece of clothing that we could both build an outfit around but after a total failure with that we both set each other a theme around movies. You can see the challenge I set for Stacie over at sheek, and the one she set for me was Tim Burton movies.

It gave me lots of scope. I thought of Beetlejuice (too dead) and Planet Of The Apes (too hairy – even for me) – and so I finally decided upon Sleepy Hollow which resulted in the outfit you can see here.

A List of Things I Never Thought I’d Find In Second Life.

1. Friends. And by that I don’t mean your bog standard internet friends or people you talk to / argue with in chat rooms. I mean people who are as valuable to me as the people I count as friends in RL. Theres only a few of them, mainly because I’m grumpy, stubborn and take the piss all the time. But they put up with me and I thank them for it.

2. A Purpose. And the purpose happens to be this blog. This blog gave me a reason to stay in SL. It gave me something to do when exploring and shopping had lost their appeal. It helped me develop skills I never though I had (and some may argue that I still don’t) and because of it I’ve been able to meet people and do things ...

I’m sure almost everyone out there has one or two things from BareRose in their inventorys. Great pieces, even better prices, but it takes forever for everything to rez and then can take at least twice that time to find the thing you’re after. Therefore, I tend to use the Bare@Rose Search Database which lets to take a look at everything and then tp directly to the item. You still have to wait for everything to rez once you’re there, but it saves a hell of a lot of time.

Anyway, I was taking a look at the site today when I came across this jacket. The pack includes this sleeveless version as well as a number of long sleeved ones with different coloured stripes down the arms. Matching pants are also includes – all for L$140.

Don’t you just hate it when you spend ages taking a set of photos, only to realise once you’ve finished that you’ve made yourself look like Indiana Jones?

It’s not a common problem I admit but one that I faced tonight. My options were that I could start over. Or not. I chose not. Besides, take the hat off and you have a decent outfit that doesn’t imply that you spend your days looking for the Lost Ark or the Holy Grail.

I’m so grateful that I don’t have to work during the weekends. Gives me a few days to recharge my batteries, catch up with friends and do some of the things that I enjoy doing. Like finding and listening to new music and spending a bit of time in SL of course.

During my wanderings around the grid this morning I picked up these boots from Anexx. They’ve been out a while and have been blogged to death, but if you don’t have them its worth picking up a pair while they’re half price.

The shirt is new from Aitui. I got a group message about it, took one look at the included picture and was down there to pick one up. It can be worn with or without the hood and straps on the chest and full and half sleeve versions are included in the pack.

I’m sure most of you know thats there’s a 50% off sale at Aoharu at the moment. It lasts until 24th January and I wandered down there last night to take a look around. I picked up a few things – including this jacket and shirt. They can be worn as one layer or separately and the main body of the jacket comes on the spine and chest attachment points. Just don’t be a prat and put on both at the same time like I originally did. It’s not a good look.

Its been one of those weeks and its not even finished yet. My part of the world has had it’s worst snow for years and struggling to and from work on the bus every day has taken its toll.
