It’s time to open gifts from the hunt. Yes we were able to finish it. There are about 16 in total wonderful gifts from participating stores in the Ozimals and Wizard of Oz sims. It was worth the fun.. and the lag.. and bonding between Liam and me. Really, it has been awhile since we did a hunt.

On the above photos, you can find some of the gift items we got from this hunt. We now use some of them as decors in our little farm. Particularly, I like the Faerie Tree with a lamp by Fae & Tiny Fantasy Creations. There’s a lot more like clothes, shoes and cute accessories.

Today, me and Liam got to do something we used to love to do. We went out on a hunt together. I must say though that this hunt was a bit more engaging that simply looking for hidden gifts. First, we had to visit the Ozimal sim and getting in was a task in itself. Be patient and try your best you will get in.

Once you are there, you will pick up a free basket with instructions on what to do next. In short, you will be collecting strawberries which rez all over the grounds. For every 6 that you pick up you will receive a dialog box that lets you choose up to 16 gift forks. With these forks, you then visit the stores and entitled to receive wonderful gifts upon clicking the fork while within 2 meters range of a celebration cake.  All of the stores are within the two adjacent sims.

It really is fun to gather the strawberries with someone you care about and then turn them in for gifts. You can take part in the fun yourself at the Ozimal sim.

When I am not flying around the grid and living the life of a fashion model, I like to go home to a quiet place and raise these cute little Ozimal bunnies.  I have been breeding them for awhile now and I got to a point where I had so many nests. I decided to open a farm to sell them. Ozimal bunnies are cute little pets you can feed and breed in Second Life. They have needs such as food water, sleep, attention. The food is something you must purchase from the ozimal main store but it isn’t a huge expense. Standard food costs 99L for 1 bunny consumable for 1 month. There are special foods that include status boosts and allow for breeding for a few more lindens. 

Your bunnies stats can be controlled by you and when they are happy in most areas, they can pass on the gift of life to a new baby bunny The new bunnies are housed in a nest which works sort of like an egg. Once you pick one up from my farm you can hatch your bunny. It takes one hour to hatch your new bunny and after that you can name and set your preferences for it. New bunnies are a real surprise since you wont know if it is male or female, and what kind of coat, color, eye, and ear type they will have. Some of these combinations are rare and some bunnies are considered elite. As you raise your bunny, you will see them eat, grow, dream while they sleep, and hop around in the area you set for them. You can also pick them up which increases their happiness. 

Ozimal bunnies do need food and water to stay alive but there is a generous hibernation system in place so that if you can’t feed them, for awhile they will be hibernated up to 5 times before it becomes too much for their little bunny bodies. The bunnies do have a old age life span too of about 10-14 months. This is why some people take to breeding to keep the genetic line going. Some people even get inspired to start a farm like I did. So I’m inviting you all to take a look at my little dears and pick your faves

Here we are at the Temple of the Plywood Apple. It is a creation for the SL7B event by Istauri Arai to honor the landmark event of sculpties coming to SL. The apple of course is the default prim used to display just how organic the shapes can get when you make sculpties.  I was really drawn to this display on my preview of the SL7B grounds and so I made it a point to come back to cover it. This time, I was able to bring Liam with me who told me he remembers the day he first got to work with the now famous apple. I like to joke with him that he is an old man in SL because he is older than the the birth of sculpties hehe. Anyway, you can see this swirling display of SL history at this Landmark. ME:  Hello Callie I see from your profile that you have been here since 2005. What brought you to Second Life, and what was it like back then?

Callie Cline: A friend invited me to try it. I thought it was boring and awkward…it was weird because there were Goreans and a lot of sex clubs and it was very hard to understand.

ME: As for the present, I see you are at the SL7B celebration. What is your contribution and what inspired what you are making?

Callie Cline: People and touching their lives are my inspiration.

ME: Looking forward, what do you think Second Life will become in the future and what would you like to see?

Callie Cline: I think SL will probably be smaller and I hope LL gets their vision back to just do business better caring for it’s core customers.

ME: Lastly If you had a birthday message for Second Life, what would it be?

Callie Cline: My message would be, “May you have many more birthdays and may all the residents in SL realize that more of us are stronger then one of us and we all need each other to play an important part of the team.”

I recently had the honor to slip under the velvet rope for this year’s Second Life 7th Birthday celebration! The theme of Second Life’s 7th journey around the sun is “Unexpected Collaborations.” The celebration will be done on a massive scale such as we’ve seen with other celebrations like Burning Life. SL7B will take place on a total of 21 sims with over 300 exhibits and live performers. The sims will also be filled with the creative works of over 700 contributors. With my shiny press pass around my neck, I entered the party grounds and was quickly overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place. Take a look at this landscaped birthday message as just one example.

I wandered from one inspired build to another until I got very lost hehe.  I finally decided to randomly teleport using the map when I ran into a friend of mine, Callie Cline. I decided to interview Callie at that point. You’ll be seeing the interview very soon. What I should tell you now is that this is an event that is not to be missed. You can join the festivities in honor of our favorite virtual world on June 21 at 10am SLT. The celebrations will last until June 27th so we all have a few days of partying together. I must say I’m excited about the creative builds, the freebies, the live events, and speakers we will see over the coming days. Have a look at these photos to get a nice idea of what to expect when the gates open.

Second Life has been so many things to so many people. For me it’s a place to share my love of photos and blogging, as well as where I met my special man. I’m both happy and a bit surprised that SL is already 7 years old. Just a few more years and we will reach double digits! But I’m getting ahead of things XD. First, we will all have to see each other tomorrow to wish our dear second world a happy birthday.
