Ok ok I’m being a bit extreme. But I do like what I found this morning. I actually had a theme in mind and as ALWAYS when I have a theme it goes straight to hell and then I don’t get it done but serendipity shines down on me and I find other things.

1. Come on lets GO: I have an intense need to HAVE a summer this summer and this photo looks like everything I want to do. Now if only I could get into that bikini.

2.While My Guitar … I love the styling although I confess at first I thought you were topless young lady. The shoot has a great vibrancy and use of yellow to convey summer and warmth.

3. 131: This is one of these great shots that is everything I always want to do but then get silly and don’t do. I can’t be serious long enough to carry off something this complete and flawless.

4. The Disney Bound Challenge: I have no idea what the Disney Bound Challenge is. I can’t be bothered to look it up. BUT, this blogger has presented her look in a great classic and concise editorial style that completely caught my eye. The second photo of her stretching really made me smile, it’s an avatar in motion shot that seems to breathe life into her pixels and that always impresses me. I also really enjoy the way she features each item she is wearing at the end so you can see them. Nicely done.

5. Fancy Feet: I have one hell of a time matching my pasty skin to anything, and generally, I shy away from any reason to do it. Khitten has the opposite problem, as a black avatar, she has to compensate for darker tones that when I saw this post I realized OMG I bet that’s hard to match too. She offers great advice on how she makes her feet flawless and beautiful.

With all of the photoshopping and windlighting and fancy things we bloggers do to pictures, it’s easy to forget that this isn’t the usual SL’ers experience. Some people come onto the grid and don’t even know HOW to change the lights. Personally, I remember someone teaching me how to make the sun come back as being a brilliant day. I got lamps for my SL house just FOR WHEN IT WAS DARK. I literally didn’t know what else to do.

So when I walked outside into the park near my house, in default lighting, I had this moment of realizing WOW that’s what this just looks like, without anything fancy, with nothing taxing the old graphics card – my setting was HIGH not ultra, and just the default region windlight.

It’s a testament to the quality of what I’m wearing I think, that everything skin, dress, hair etc doesn’t NEED a quick PS touch up to look pretty. If you buy these things, this is what you’re getting, without fail. No worry that I’ve changed the colors or the shape with little tweaks here or there to hide imperfections.

I think that’s great.

Another thing I’m here to share today is two of my favorite new things. The HUDS that make me beautiful.

In this photo I DID tweak the windlight to GOGO’S JuicyLovesYou  or it might’ve been Gogo Hearts SL I forget. The reason for that was because of the darkness in the day by the time I got to this shot – the colors on the nails didn’t show up very well. I tried to pick a windlight that simply lit up the sky rather than provided a lot of filtered color also. I’m wearing the pink peach tone of nails – from FLAIR for your SLINK nails. You just put on your slink nails – add the FLAIR HUD and touch – and your nails change to your color. Flair has now released so many colors of nails you’ll be hard pressed to ever wear any other I swear. It’s brilliant.

I’m also trying out the new EXILE HUD that Gogo has talked about too. It’s just brilliant, my favorite part are the little dots of color on each tone – that you can use to add highlights. I chose the orange one to compliment the peach dress I was wearing – and you can see it’s subtle but beautiful. I am wearing SHIMMER but I really liked the SNOW QUEEN version of the light blonde tones. As always EXILE has proven again why their blondes always make my short list of awesome.

I have been eyeballing this bedroom set from LAQ Decor for some time. And since it has been at least, oh, a week, since I ordered new furniture I decided WHAT the heck and clicked BUY on marketplace to have it delivered. I bought the PG version, because it was slightly cheaper – I believe it was around 999L and my husband is off in Azeroth so  I won’t need a sexy times bed.

The land impact is exquisite – 6! SIX LAND IMPACT PEOPLE – for the bed. Each side table is decorated in a femme way and they are three which is incredible.

It’s loaded with lots of animations in the PG version, sitting or sleeping and there is even an under the covers version. Plus sheets, cover, pillows and wood are all color change with a click. I’ve chosen pink today, who KNOWS what I’ll choose next. It was a much deserved splurge for an admittedly spoiled avatar.

I spent a very indulgent night in these covers, it was worth every penny.

Happy Saturday my lovelies! I have some wonderful nuggest of fashion, wisdom, fun and whimsy for you today. I hope your Saturday is beautiful and that you never once have to look upon an ugly soul. If you do, I hope you have a fancy coffee to make it all go away.

1. Honour McMillan has a very serious business proposition that will likely take her away from us to the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. I bet she’ll be buying silk underwear and putting weights in the hems of her skirts like royalty before we know it.

2. Lennon Park - Avatars in Motion, my other favorite location blog, brings us more great locations to go shoot our silly fashion at, or just go and enjoy some beauty.

3. Blood Red - Grazia again shows us why she’s A List with a flawless editorial shot that is designed to inspire your sense of style and compel you to shop. I’m so glad she’s back.

4. Things To Remember About People Who Make Things In Second Life: AE Meth gives us a brief editorial to remind us to get our panties out of a bunch, light a scented candle and have some tea. Then relax and remember that our SL problems are #secondlifeproblems and calm the eff down.

5. A Storm is Coming: This pic caught my attention because my first thought was that he was a DJ – it’s the headphones. But as I read through the post, I was captivated at how this blogger hasn’t lost the thread. They’re still having a ton of fun blogging, fully engaging their inner child with fantasy and imagination and creating great style along the way.

If you aren’t a 20 something and you hearken back to your youth, you’ll remember that back in the day in the Peanuts cartoons, Snoopy was often working on his book. His book always begins “It was a dark and stormy night…”. What you might not know is that there is an entire, long running fiction contest centered around this premise – beginning terrible fiction with the phrase IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT.

I actually once purchased a compendium of the Bulwer -Lytton contest entries and laughed for days reading it. It’s one of the seminal phrases in American faux literature, and when I rezzed Barnesworth Anubis new skybox for Collabor88 – my first thought was OMG IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT.

With it’s classic European moulding detail, and beautiful windows letting in light and looking out across the rooftops of Paris (Which is different that Under the Roofs of Paris by Henry Miller which is TOTALLY NOT THE SAME AT ALL OMG NO) I have to confess that now I have to move house again.

Barnesworth Anubis has seduced me with yet another skybox. He’s quite seductive, did you ever read his profile? It’s not for the shy, or conservative. He even says quite publicly that he stays crunchy in milk.

If that doesn’t say LOVER AND SEDUCER, I don’t even know what does.

Paris for the summer, then? I don’t mind if I do.

I was taking some snaps as I had my breakfast this morning when I realized something amazing about my new skirt from BAIASTICE for The Boutique event that, THE INSIDE IS TEXTURED!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG! I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE clothing with invisible insides. It looks crazy in photographs in certain poses and I never know when I’m going to suddenly have a huge invisible patch that causes me to throw away a photo.

There is rain the forecast, so I’m not sure how to spend my day. Riding dragons, shopping, jumping on mushrooms, my possibilities are endless.

In my pixel world, anything is possible. I mean, after I’ve had my coffee anything is possible. Always after my coffee.

There is always a lot of discussion about what’s good, what’s bad, what we want, what we don’t want in SL from creators and bloggers so I asked two questions yesterday to get a comprehensive compilation of some hot topics. I’ll remove the names because I don’t want to start mafia wars “OMG SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT MEEEEE” but you never know, maybe she was.

My first question was the negative. “What SL Fashion Trends Should Die?”

These are the responses I got:

• it makes me want to stab my eyes. The alpa issues, textures, rigging… ugh.. and then the prices hahahahaha, seriously?

• that’s a thing!? i haven’t seen that one. i think i’d hate that too. i’m all for pouty full lips or even thin lips are fine too but when it so off that it makes the skin & face look distorted i’m like no.
• surface piercings that look infected
• the entire sweaty boob look
• unrealistic piercings. like, okay, you want to have a one inch lower lip piercing, awesome – but if your avatar doesn’t even have a proper chin, this just isn’t going to work. at all.
• depends on how you view your second life, which is different then others second life. Some go for the avant guarde fashion, might not like the fashion forward, etc.
• studded everything.
• antlers
• Nekos. They’re still out there. o.o
• Having something on every attachment point. Seriously? You don’t need to have everything on every point. Sometimes just a bracelet or earrings work over ten pounds of jewelry. 
• anything hovering in the mouth. But seriously, if bloggers didn’t do all of the things above, we’d all look the same and I’d find that boring.

  

   

  Surely there is something good? Well yes. Yes there is. Next I asked “Fashion trends that are brilliant that you can’t get enough of?” 

  Here is what they said:

  • PATTERNS
  • Cardigans.
  • socks!
  • Wings! Prosthetic feet! I wanted them when I first resized in 2006. When Sidd made hem I was ecstatic! Oh & ears… Fae of course. 
  • mesh hair that does not go through my shoulders, fabulous bare feet, tank tops for some reason and mesh jeans that make my bottom fabulous
  • I say fabulous too much. that can stop
  • camo & sunglasses
  • Hats with hair. I’ve always loved a good hat hair!
  • Purses and clutch bags
  • long rigged hair <3
  • eyes with different sizes
  • Mesh eyes
  • Mesh nails and all the appliers
  • ooh, i second hat hair, there hasnt been much mesh hat hairs released
  • appilers. not sure i can think of anything else.
  • i want mesh eyes with different size pupils, so i can do a david bowie thing
  • oh i like teeth. how did i forget that.
  • teeth, Lolas, mesh dresses with HUDs for changing colors and textures
  • More more tell me mooore!
  • I love how designers are including tucked/untucked versions of some waistbands to allow for a smoother natural look when mixing and matching shirts etc. I love XXS and S+ to help with layering items.
  • incorporating SL locations and scenes into fashion pics. I don’t know if I’m right, but I think I’m seeing more diversity in the settings when taking pics which is nice.

   

   

  So, what have we learned? People love/hate the Lolas. Other than that, taste is subjective. But I thought it was a couple of interesting list so I thought I’d share.

  After all, bitches love lists.

  On my plurk timeline are creators, bloggers and shoppers most of which would say their favorite color is fatpack. Their demographic is not necessarily that of the entire SL population by any means.

  But they sure do shop.

Digging through my inventory you might find a lot more items from Nomine that you’d imagine. Most of them are things I bought some time ago and the quality is too good for me to find a reason to trash outright.

Rooting through my giant closet though, I could not for the life of me remembering buying a skirt there. I was wrestling with something to wear to the Velvet this Sunday for Cajsa’s Jazz set, this week it was Latin Jazz and I figured if I got my look right I might make it a day of dancing. So I put on this skirt and had that instant moment of being transported back.

Flashback two years at my five year rez day party at Rouge. Munchflower, who is the owner of Nomine was there and she handed me this little skirt as a rez day present. It hadn’t been a very good month, and this huge party at Rouge and the outpouring of friendship, some from folks I only knew a little, pushed me onward and made unhappy days happy.

I thought mesh + system + prim might be a fun way to celebrate where fashion has been and where it’s going. And just to prove, there is a reason why I never clean my inventory. I’d lose gems that remind me of such amazing and happy days.

And now if you’ll excuse me, this clubbing girl has to hit the shower and get to work.

Protagonist means the first character or the leader. That’s quite fitting because Miamai has been busy carving out a new normal in makeup and fashion with the release of the Protagoniste beauty HUD. Eyeliners, lashes, eyes, contacts, face gems, the list goes on of amazing variables that are possible all in one HUD. Well it’s Friday Night and if you didn’t already do your FLF shopping shame on you the clock is ticking. But if you’re done, I’ve got some other good things to show you before you head out to dance the night away or whatever it is your digital world holds.

1. Last Chance: Wedding Season is upon us in both worlds. I thought the little purse was a lovely touch. I used to wear wedding dresses to combat role play sims. True story. I wonder why I’ve always struggled with role play?

2. Jewelry and Nail Polish: In the category of THESE ARE EVERYTHING are new rings and polish from STELLAR. Lexi Morgan always gets props from me for being a creator who bothers to blog her new releases. Great release Lexi, everything is lovely.

3. Daydream: Morgan Kincess perfectly captures a black and white celluloid mood with this snapshot. I expect her avatar has a gangster boyfriend with a heart of gold.

4. Second Spaces – Likes the Sushi: Home and furniture blogs rule my world (rather than women like Prince’s world) right after girly fashion ones. Second Spaces routinely produces great shots with decorating ideas as well as featuring new releases. If you don’t watch this blog, you should.

5. Home Sweet Home: Keely Mistwood has done a great job of presenting us with a lovely home, and even though she forgot to turn off the porn before she invited us in, it’s still a charming place. Well planned and inviting, I kind of want everything in these pics, which is the idea, no?
